First Family Picture

Here we are...

Evan is Here!!!!

Here are some pictures of our little man! Quick story of his delivery...we checked in Wednesday night to start the dilation pill, which did start contractions. Thursday morning, Dr. Ashurst broke my water and gave the ok for my epidural. I got that and was resting comfortably. The nurse came in to check my dilation and discovered some bleeding...more than she was comfortable with, she called the Dr. He ordered for them to prepare me for a C-section. Evan's heartrate was up. Within just a few minutes, we were in the section room preparing to meet Evan. Within 19 minutes our precious little man was here. He was sent to the NICU because he had some fluid on his lungs, his heartrate was elevated and his blood pressure was down. James went with Evan to the nursery as they finished everything up with me and I finally got to hold him later Thursday night. We are now waiting to be discharged to head home! He is getting to go home with us! I will post more details of the past few days later-some of which has been a blur and some details include the roller coaster emotions, with more pictures (of course). Hope you all enjoy!

Change of Plans!!

It seems as though Evan will not be joining us until Thursday August 28. Dr. Ashurst has to go out of town for a funeral Wednesday, so the plan is to be admitted around 5:30 Wednesday afternoon and be induced Thursday morning. I wanted to cry when he told me the news!! Please remember us in your prayers...especially James as he takes care of me these next few days!!! Until next time...

Yesterday...

Yesterday was our 3rd wedding anniversary! 3 whole years!!! :) It seems like it was just yesterday I was telling my mom about this WONDERFUL man I had met and how I would like to spend more time with him and here we are...about to hold and kiss our first born! Man how time goes by!!

I love you James, more than you could ever know. I feel so blessed that God chose me to be your wife. I could not ask for a better gift than your love. You mean the world to me. You are a wonderful, caring, loving, generous and thoughtful husband and I know you are going to be all of those plus some as a Daddy to Evan. I love you!! Thank you for dinner last night and for my beautiful Willow Tree figurine!

On a funnier note...I thought my water broke yesterday while I was in the treatment room with a patient, I went down to LDR only to find out it was not my water, but the mucus plug!! I was a little embarrassed to say the least! I guess it was better to be safe than sorry. I am now beyond the point of being ready...ready for my back not to hurt, ready to hold and kiss Evan, and ready to be tired, but because of different reasons!! I am sure you moms know what I am talking about!

We go back to see Dr. Ashurst Monday afternoon, so I am sure I will update Tuesday morning!

Baby Update-Week 38

We saw Dr. Ashurst yesterday and he said that Evan's heartbeat was wonderful. We were able to do the ultrasound and it says that Evan measured 8lbs 9oz. I was dilated 1 cm (thanks for the prayers to get that rolling!!), which was progress from last week! YEA!!!
The plan is to go back on Monday, unless Evan decides to come before then, to be re-checked. If I am still at 1 cm, then we will be admitted on Tuesday night to get the dilation process started and then the induction on Wednesday morning- if I have dilated more than the 1 cm, then we will just wait to be admitted early Wednesday morning.
It looks like Wednesday August 27th will be Evan's birthday!!!

The Long Awaited Shot...

Here it is...the long awaited and much anticipated sideways preggo shot.

THANKS!

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! Thank you for sharing your stories, they have really lifted my spirits. Please pray for us this weekend. I am not feeling well today, we have birthing class tomorrow and then we go to see Dr. Ashurst on Monday. He is going to go ahead and have them do the ultrasound Monday so we can see how big our little man is and then make plans from there. After reading your stories, I no longer feel so scared to be induced!! Thanks again friends!! Keep looking for posts...he will be here before we know it!

Update from Yesterday's Dr. Appointment...

Well, I went for my weekly visit with Dr. Ashurst and the news was not exactly what I was hoping to hear. I still have not started to dilate, however Evan has continued to move further down. My cervix is still very posterior. Dr. Ashurst is a little concerned that Evan is going to be a "big boy" and that leaving him in until September may throw us in a situation we don't want to find ourselves in. With all of that said, he wants to recheck next Monday, if I still have not dilated, do an ultrasound to see how big Mr. Evan is and then schedule our induction date. He is thinking August 27 -just 2 weeks from today!!!
I am praying vigorously that the dilation process will begin soon and when we go back on Monday I will have made some progress so that we can proceed as naturally as possible. Please join me in this prayer. Anyone else been in this same place who can offer some words of encouragement?

Today with Dr. Ashurst

Hello Everyone! Sorry it has been so long since our last blog, things have been sort of busy with all the preparations for Evan's arrival. We have had several showers already and will have our last one this coming Saturday. I plan to post pictures from all of them (and vacation) next week.

I went to see Dr. Ashurst this morning and things seem to be right on schedule. I had a rough night last night with uncomfortable pains and some Braxton Hicks contractions. He said all that I am experiencing is completely normal and nothing that should concern us. He also told me that in just 9 days I will be what he considers "complete, full term" and so at any time after that he would be ok inducing labor. I told him that I would like to go as close to his due date as possible and his response was "You just let me know when it is too unbearable!!" He did an exam and said that there is no dilation, just thinning, but that Evan has moved down-he could feel his head.

So, with all of that said, we are scheduled to see him again next Tuesday. We are down to those weekly visits! Evan will be here before we know it! I guess I had better get our bags packed!! Please let me know if you would like to be included on the "call list" - make sure I have your number!!

Prayer requests: please pray that Evan will continue to grow and develop as he should for his remaining baking time, that I would remain seizure free and that the labor process will be as stress less for Evan as possible. You can also include that the labor be as quick as possible (once we are at the hospital!!! hehe). Don't forget to remember Pete, his world is about to be turned up-side-down as well. Please pray that it will be a smooth transition for our pup.

~Love to you all~
